Scouting for Food 2016

bsa scouting for food cub scouts food banks service projectScouting for Food is a council-wide service project in conjunction with the Houston Food Bank and “Souper Bowl of Caring”. There is no better way to show our Scouting spirit to our community than by participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive!

Thunder Wolf District is participating in this annual event. Our pack has proudly participated for many years. This year Scouting for Food is January 30th and February 6th. Flyers will be hung on doors the first weekend and food picked up the second weekend.

Someone is needed to head up this year’s event. It isn’t very complicated. Job duties include:

  • registering our Pack as participating
  • organizing the Scouts to hang flyers on doors in the neighborhood
  • organizing the Scouts picking up food and delivering it to the assigned food bank
  • reporting our numbers to the Thunder Wolf coordinator

If you want to help out, please let me know ASAP.

YIS,

Cub Master White

I am SO proud of how well our boys performed on Saturday. They did an outstanding job with the opening flag ceremony!

Towel and Blanket Drive for Missouri City Animal Shelter

We are having a towel and blanket drive for the local animal shelter. There are 2 adoption events we will have a donation box at this weekend.

Eggpalooza at Community Park from 6-8pm on Friday, March 27th and Ft. Bend Pets Alive! on Saturday, March 28, from 11am-2pm. I will be at the Friday event but not Saturday. The boys will be decorating donation boxes at the meeting on Wednesday.  It would be great if someone can show up on Saturday for a little bit to promote the drive. If you do, please wear your Class A uniform.

Here is the flyer I made up and posted around town. Please share with your social media outlets, friends, work, and family. This counts as our community service project for the spring.

Scouting for Food – Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, 2014

scouting for food bsa cub scouts food drive good deed service projectCub Scout Pack 1003, sponsored by Holy Family Catholic Church, needs your help – and so do thousands of hungry people in our community.

Our Scouts are participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive this winter. The 2014 food drive will take place on two consecutive Saturdays. On Saturday, January 25, Scouts will place door hangers throughout the Quail Valley East subdivision.  The following Saturday, February 1, Scouts will return to pick up the donated food items. Food donated in a particular area will be distributed through relief pantries in that area.

This year the Scouts hope to match or better the success of last year’s food drive. This year the food pantries are looking for protein food such as canned tuna, peanut butter, or canned ravioli.

Your help is desperately needed. Please be sure to look for your Scouting for Food door hanger on January 25 and make plans place your donated food items at your front door the next Saturday. Scouts will collect the donations from your doorstep on February 1. Visit www.houstonfoodbank.org to learn more about hunger in our area.

Thank you for your support last year!
